Buddy's Story — When Quiet Needed Something to Hold

Pull quote: “Somehow, it made the quiet days feel a little less empty.”

The bond

He had a way of turning a room soft. The kind of cat who could do absolutely nothing—half-lidded eyes, warm weight nearby—and somehow make the day feel steadier.

What you remember most is that unmistakable moment: the huge yawn, the tiny pink tongue, the sleepy squint that says safe, home, again.

The making

We began with his “recognition anchors”—the orange-and-cream patterning, the gentle striping across his forehead, and that relaxed, almost-smiling squint.

Then we built the piece in layers to create real depth (never flat color), shaping the mouth and tongue so the yawn reads true—open, soft, and wonderfully him.

Before finishing, we checked it under different lighting to make sure the orange stays warm, the whites stay clean, and the expression still lands at first glance

The reveal

You can place his memorial where the light falls—on a shelf, by a window, near the spot he always chose without thinking.

It doesn't remove the missing. It just gives your hands something gentle to hold—like he's still here for a second, mid-yawn, unbothered, and close.
