When Healing Needs a Ritual
I've seen how small rituals help families heal.
I've seen how small rituals help families heal.
On my birthday, a friend gave me a gift.
Not loud. Just impossibly right—like holding those familiar eyes again, that little pink nose, and that cloud-soft fur, all brought back into focus.
It doesn't feel “made.” It feels carefully restored .
First the shape and angle , then the clean whites built in light layers so the fur stays airy.
The final touches are what make you recognize her : the catchlight in the eyes , the soft pink tones, and the feathered texture around the cheeks and chest.
When I held it up and placed it beside her, it hit me.
It doesn't read like a craft piece.
It reads like certainty: she's still here.
